A Family Tradition

Grandmother Davita, together with her daughter Catalina, the founders of the Antumalal, began preparing recipes brought from her birthplace, Prague, in 1949. They baked kuchens and apple pies for tea time, while Guillermo brought visitors to Pucón by boat to taste the famous "Antumalal Tea Time". In 2016, the Lake Café was remodelled and is today the inviting Lake House with 3 bedrooms and a spacious living dining area, only 100mts from Lake Villarrica.

In 1950, when Antumalal was inaugurated, Catalina brought her kitchen to the hotel and developed a special menu alternating European recipes with the new recipes she learned in Chile. The specialty was the trout that the guests themselves fished in the Trancura River, making the Hotel Antumalal the first fishing lodge in Chile. Prince Philip & Queen Elizabeth of England tasted a trout from the river in this same place.
